Drafting Resources

Drafting is the working event that I get the most questions about.

Harnesses - Siwash style Nordkyn are my favorite.  I like these the best, as they clip in to the shaft as opposed to having to go over the end.  Makes harnessing and hitching go a lot faster that the other varieties of harnesses.

Carts - I have 3, one is a PVC one I built (directions were in the Q1 2004 Senn), the other 2 are from the Wilczek's; one is a 16"deluxe training wheels cart and the other is a custom cart.  The PVC one was sized specifically for Titan is moderately heavy but perfectly balanced, the 16"deluxe training wheels cart is very light and is easy to take apart, it's my favorite for starting new dogs.

Below watch a few swissies do the maneuver portion of the test, there is also an obedience portion, a 3 minute stay and a 1 mile freight haul.

  • Draft Maneuver Course Example 1 - Jan and Flash (May 14th, 2011)
  • Draft Maneuver Course Example 2 - Megan and Kenzie (May 14th, 2011)
  • Draft Maneuver Course Example 3 - Bob and Otis (April 30th, 2011)
